Review: Groceries – The Grocery Shopping List iPhone App

Posted on December 3, 2009 by

One of the most annoying situations for me is being at the grocery store and trying to remember everything I came there to get.  And what’s even worse is getting home and realizing that I remembered the pasta but forgot the sauce.  Even if you’re not as bad as me when it comes to grocery shopping, I’m sure Groceries will help everyone have a much quicker and fulfilling shopping experience.

One of the first things I noticed about Groceries is how fast the app is.  It opens almost immediately and when searching, results are displayed instantly.  The interface is very nice looking and easy to get around.  I was very surprised how quick everything was, especially considering it has a huge database containing 11,259 items.

Creating a grocery list is very simple.  You can either choose your items from different categories, or you can type the product in the search field.  Although browsing through the categories is very smooth, I found that searching was the fastest way to select items.  Categories would probably come in handy for some shopper’s needs, especially if you are buying a lot of items from specific categories.  Selecting items is very easy, you just check the box next to the product name.  There is an option to add items to your Favorites, this makes it even easier to create lists in the future.

When your grocery list is created, the items are sorted by categories.  The categories are made from the grocery store aisle the items are found.  This makes finding your items very easy.  Instead of going back and forth through the store, you can easily just go down the aisles you need to and quickly cross something off your list.  crossing something off your list is also very simple, all you have to do is touch the item.  You can also delete an item by swiping your finger across it and selecting delete.

The Groceries app cost $1.99, which in my opinion is a great deal.  It is by far the best grocery list app I’ve come across so far.  Go check it out at the App Store, and let us know what you think.
