RUMOR: Apple set to purchase mobile ad company Quattro Wireless

Apple may be getting ready to take on Google in mobile ad space. Google recently purchased AdMob for $750, and now Apple is rumored to be purchasing Quattro Wireless, a direct competitor of AdMob, for $275 million. Quattro Wireless has a presence on mobile web and in-app ads on the iPhone and Android as well. The announcement could come as early as today.
