App Uses LED Flash on iPhone 4 as a Flashlight

Posted on July 7, 2010 by

Ever since the iPhone 4 came out with the LED flash on the back, developers have been submitting apps to use the flash as a flashlight.  One developer, Michael D’Ulisse of MoreBluSky, was curious why his app was not being approved.  D’Ulisse contacted Apple about the delay and was told his app would be rejected as “inappropriate use of hardware.”  After meeting with the App Review department, MoreBluSky’s Flashlight – For iPhone 4 was finally approved.

Apple is requiring apps that use the iPhone 4 flash as a flashlight to include the following disclaimer: “Continued use of the flash may dramatically decrease battery life”

Check it out in the App Store.

    Well honk,

Thanks to his talking to Phil, I think a lot of different apps got approved. Ours went through as well today :

iFlash4. It’s simple, hopefully as useful as we think it is. Hope it’s not too sleazy to add in a word about our app :)

    Anyway, check it out.
