Verizon iPhone Rumors Spark as Foxconn Plans New Factory

Posted on August 2, 2010 by

Foxconn is building a new factory dedicated primarily to iPhone production.  This has started new rumors that the iPhone will be coming to other US carriers like Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile.  In May, DigiTimes reported that Apple placed orders for 10 million CDMA iPhones with Pegatron, a subsidiary of ASUStek.  So if that rumor was true, this new Foxconn factory may not be for CDMA iPhones, but instead just to help meet the demand for the current GSM version, which has been available in limited quantities since launch.
