Proof of Verizon iPhone Announcement on January 11: Gizmodo Not Invited

Posted on January 7, 2011 by

Verizon sent out invitations for a special event on Tuesday, January 11. The announcement doesn’t specifically say what the event is about, but just about everyone believes they will be announcing the Verizon iPhone. Many popular technology blogs received an invitation, except for Gizmodo. For those of you who don’t know, Apple has excluded Gizmodo from all of their press events ever since they purchased and disassembled the stolen iPhone 4 prototype last april. Matt Buchanan at Gizmodo says they’ve been invited to every Verizon event held over the last three years. Gizmodo asked Verizon why they weren’t invited to this event and received back an official “no comment” response. Buchanan believes the only reason is that it’s an Apple event and Steve Jobs doesn’t want Gizmodo there.
