Verizon Offering iPhone 4 $30 Unlimited Data for Limited Time

Verizon has confirmed that it will be offering a $30 unlimited data plan for the incoming CDMA iPhone 4. COO Lowell McAdam told the WSJ that the data package – which, unlike AT&T’s current plans, will not limit the amount of 3G data that can be consumed by the new iOS smartphone – is intended to lure over customers frustrated by tiered packages that have monthly allowances.
“I’m not going to shoot myself in the foot” the exec said, describing tiered plans as a potential barrier to customer migration. The Verizon iPhone 4 is already being heralded as the device which will boost the carrier’s smartphone sales from the last quarter, which fell short of predictions and, in McAdam’s own words, “wasn’t what I hoped it would be.” The iPhone 4 will arrive on Verizon come February 10; more details in our hands-on.
Update: Looks like you’ll have to act fast if you want unlimited data: according to further comments by McAdam, the plan will be a temporary offer, and after an unspecified period will switch to tiered pricing as per AT&T’s agreements.
