RUMOR: Apple Orders 12 Petabytes of Storage for iTunes Video Content

Posted on April 6, 2011 by is reporting that Apple placed an order with Isilon Systems for 12 petabytes (12,000 terabytes) of additional storage for hosting iTunes video content. There have been rumors going around for a while about Apple revamping its MobileMe service and introducing cloud-based storage for music, video and other media, but this report makes no mention of the 12 petabytes being used for this service.
