A MacRumors reader has uncovered a new feature in iOS 5 called “Automatic Download.” Currently, iOS apps have to be manually updated from the App Store, but an iTunes update page reveals a new feature that will allow for automatic updates. The following line has been added to the My App Update screen:

Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync.

This setting suggests that you will be able to get app updates automatically without having to sync or download the updates manually using the App Store app.
