Apple Announces iPhone 4S, Pre-Orders Start October 7 and Launches October 12

Apple unveiled the next-gerneration iPhone today, the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4S features Apple’s dual-core A5 processor, a new 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording, a new voice-activated assistant called Siri, better battery life, faster download speeds and more. the iPhone 4S looks identical to the iPhone 4, but the insides are all new.

The iPhone 4S will be available for pre-order online beginning October 7 with delivery scheduled for October 14. It will be available at retail stores at 8AM on October 14. AT&T, Verizon and Sprint will be carrying the iPhone 4S at launch in the United States.

It will be available in black or white and with a capacity of 16GB ($199), 32GB ($299) and 64GB ($399). An 8GB version of the iPhone 4 will also be available from AT&T, Verizon and Sprint for $99, while the iPhone 3GS will be available to AT&T only for free. All these prices are with a contract of course.
