RUMOR: Apple to Launch Retina Display MacBook Pro in 2012

Posted on December 14, 2011 by

Apple may launch a Retina MacBook Pro in 2012, according to DigiTimes’ sources in the upstream supply chain. The display would have a resolution of 2,880 by 1,800, which is twice what the current MacBook Pro has. This rumor is partially supported by Intel’s announcement in September that their Ivy Bridge processors would support a 4K display resolution.

Of course, A Retina display on a MacBook Pro would require resolution independence to be supported in OS X, otherwise apps and on-screen items would be incredibly tiny.
