iOS Tip: How to Use Restrictions to Prevent Kids from Deleting Apps from Home Screen

Posted on December 30, 2011 by

If you let kids use your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, this is a great tip for you. Although most kids seem to have a pretty easy time navigating and using iOS, it’s still possible that they could accidentally delete one of your third-party apps. But Apple offers an easy solution to this problem. Just follow these instructions and your apps will be safe from deletion.

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Go to General settings
  3. Select Restrictions
  4. Tap Enable Restriction and enter a 4-digit passcode (don’t forget it)
  5. Scroll down and switch Deleting Apps off

While you’re doing this, you may want to check out some of the other restrictions Apple offers too. Let us know if you have any questions or comments.
