Apple has sent out invitations to attend a special event being held in New York City on Thursday, January 19. The event will be about an education announcement and take place at the Guggenheim Museum at 10:00am ET.

Rumors about this event started last week, and some have reported on the possibility of Apple revolutionizing textbooks. Steve Jobs’ biographer Walter Isaacson said the following about Jobs’ goal to change the textbook industry:

His idea was to hire great textbook writers to create digital versions, and make them a feature of the iPad. In addition, he held meetings with major publishers, such as Pearson Education, about partnering with Apple.
