UPDATE: The A5 untethered jailbreak has been released!

With the release of an untethered A5 jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 coming any day now, make sure you update your device to iOS 5.0.1 now. It’s best to do this before Apple releases iOS 5.1, which is expected very soon. pod2g, who is working on the A5 jailbreak and has already released an untethered jailbreak for older iOS devices, has also advised users to update.

When Apple releases iOS 5.1, they will stop signing 5.0.1. This means you will only be able to restore or upgrade to iOS 5.1. iOS 5.1 breaks the upcoming jailbreak, so this is the reason you should update to 5.0.1 as soon as possible.

We’ll keep you updated on the official public release of the A5 untethered jailbreak.

seriously?  read any blog or any post.  they are NOT providing an ETA because its impossible to do.  when it’s ready, it will be released.
    stay patient bud.

  3. Eli Courey says:

no ETA yet, but pod2g has been hinting that it should be soon. him and the rest of the team working on it still have some issues they need to work on before making it public.

  4. Guesty McGuest says:

A5 JB will work on 5.0 – “iPhone4S owners looking to maximize their chances of achieving
an eventual software-based carrier unlock should be staying at 5.0.”

True, iOS 5.0 is best if you are wanting to do a carrier unlock. pod2g is against sim unlocks according to his blog, so that’s probably why he doesn’t give that warning.
