Tim Cook Announces New Employee Benefits at Town Hall Meeting

Posted on January 26, 2012 by

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced to employees yesterday some “exciting new things.” Cook announced that starting June 2012, employees will be given $500 discounts on purchases of any new Macs, excluding the Mac mini, and $250 discounts on purchases of the iPad. To cut down on misuse of this benefit, it can only be utilized every three years and the employee must have been working for Apple for at least 90 days.

Apple’s current discount for employees is 25%, so this $500 discount is a nice upgrade for many Mac purchases.

With Apple being one of the most wealthiest companies in the world, it’s great to see them treating their employees with this awesome new benefit.

Will this be extended to Foxconn employees?
Let’s make sure that contractors can share in these “fruits”, too — pun intended.
