iPhone Represents Over 80% of AT&T’s 4Q 2011 Smartphone Sales

We recently reported that the iPhone represented 55% of Verizon’s fourth quarter 2011 smartphone sales, and now AT&T’s fourth quarter earnings highlight that over 80% of smartphone activations on their network during that time were iPhones. It looks like the iPhone is by far the most popular smartphone on both networks, but especially on AT&T. My guess is that Verizon’s iPhone numbers will keep rising as Android users’s contracts start to expire. Verizon was known for pushing Android phones on customers before the iPhone was available on the network, but many of those customers have regretted the purchase and are looking forward to upgrading to the much superior iOS 5.
