Twitpic, a service for posting photos and videos on Twitter, launched its own iPhone app today. The free photo sharing app includes some simple editing features, filters and a comment section. Twitpic also includes a content feed from users you follow.
Twitpic is now in direct competition with Instagram, the photo sharing app recently purchased by Facebook for $1 billion. Twitpic was launched in 2008 and was the default photo sharing service for many users until Twitter started its own service in collaboration with PhotoBucket. Twitpic currently has over 35 million regular users and plans to look beyond just Twitter to further grow the company.
Twitpic is available for free in the App Store.
