RUMOR: Apple Television Designs in Early Stage of Testing

Rumors of an Apple-branded TV have been going around for many years, and the latest comes from the Wall Street Journal. According to the report, Apple is in the early stages of testing a TV, but that the TV “isn’t a formal project yet.” This information comes from the supply chain, which is often a good source for new product leaks.
It’s no secret that Apple is interested in the TV market, Steve Jobs talked about it and Tim Cook recently expressed his interest in the area. I personally don’t see Apple coming out with an actual television until they have found a way to revolutionize the way content is delivered. The Apple TV device has been a great way for the company to experiment with different types of content delivery. Renting TV shows didn’t seem to pick well, so my guess is they will eventually try and start a subscription service, similar to Hulu Plus and Netflix, which have both done very well on the Apple TV.
