New Mystery ‘Courier’ App Teased by Realmac Software (Video)

Your guess is as good as mine on what this new Mac application, Courier, actually does. The developer, Realmac Software, says it will come out “in about a week.” Federico Viticci at MacStories.net is the only reviewer and says that he can’t really say what the app does, but that “Courier is great, and will probably turn out to be one of the best apps released on Mac this year.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but the teaser video is pretty cool.

Upload Videos at 720p to YouTube with 720Tube App

The iPhone 4 records amazing 720p video, but when you use the built-in Send to YouTube feature, it lowers the quality to 360p. This issue has been fixed with a free app called 720Tube.  With 720Tube, you can directly upload your videos at 720p to YouTube. Hopefully Apple will make this a native feature soon, but check out 720Tube in the App Store while we are waiting.

Facebook for iPhone Updated with ‘Places’ GPS Check-In

Facebook for iPhone has been updated to allow you to share your location by checking in to the place and letting friends know where you are.  The new feature is called Places and is very similar to other online check-in apps like Gowalla and Foursquare.  Facebook Places also lets you tag friends who are with you and see what other friends have also checked in at your location.

Review: Future Checkin App Takes the Pain Out of Foursquare

There is an awesome app for users of foursquare, it’s called Future Checkin and it lets you check-in at your current location automatically, without even taking your iPhone out of your pocket.  Cult of Mac has a great review of Future Checkin that is definitely worth reading.

From Cult of Mac:

Independent app developer Tim Sears has just released his latest creation for iPhone, and if you are a Foursquare user, this is one for you.

Future Checkin utilizes the new background location features available with iOS 4 and allows you to check-in to your favorite, recent or nearby venues without even getting your phone out of your pocket.

Many users of Foursquare (myself included) have been screaming for a feature such as this for the iPhone app, as getting your phone out every time you are at a new venue has become very tiresome. Read more

Adult Industry Sees Porn Potential in iPhone 4

From Associated Press:

So when Apple Inc. launched the iPhone 4 and its FaceTime videoconference feature, it didn’t take long for adult-entertainment companies to develop video-sex chat services and start hiring workers through Craigslist.

With more than 3 million of the phones already sold, the adult industry stands to make big money on this new way to reach out and touch someone — even if it puts Apple, which has always taken pains to keep its iPhone apps squeaky clean, in an awkward spot.

In at least five cities, Craigslist ads seek models specifically for video sex chat on FaceTime. Many of the ads even offer to throw in a free iPhone 4 for the new employees.

“A phone is such an intimate thing, you usually don’t lend it out or have someone else use it,” said Quentin Boyer, a spokesman for Pink Visual, an adult production company. Read more
