Play StarCraft II on Your iOS Device

StarCraft II Gameboard sounds like an interesting iOS app.  It lets you remotely control your StarCraft II game from your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. The biggest problem with this app is that it’s only compatible with StarCraft II running on a Windows machine.

Starcraft 2 Gameboard should be available in the App Store in mid-September for $2.

The Starcraft 2 Gameboard is set for release in September 2010. With the Starcraft 2 Gameboard, you will be able to remotely control your Starcraft 2 game from your iPhone, Ipad, or Ipod touch.  It will include many great features such as mini-map control, detailed unit statistics, and easy touch access to the games most important hotkeys and macros.

Valve Claims Frame Rate Improvements of Up to 120%

Apple released a Snow Leopard Graphics Update yesterday and Valve is now reporting a frame rate increase on their games of 15% to 120% on some newer Mac hardware.

From Valve:

We are seeing dramatic performance improvements on iMac (Late 2009 and Mid 2010), Mac mini (Early 2009 and Mid 2010), Mac Pro (Early 2009), MacBook (Early 2009 and Mid 2010) and MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) and MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010) models. Depending on the game, video settings and the hardware, we have measured frame rate improvements from 15% to 120% on these systems. On older systems, we are generally already operating at the limits of the hardware, so it is not obvious that any significant performance improvements can be achieved in the future.
