Apple has released a commercial for the new iPod touch titled “All kinds of fun.” The video shows off the iPod touch’s new FaceTime and HD video recording features, along with some impressive gaming.

Apple Introduces New iPod touch with FaceTime and Retina Display

Our predictions of a new iPod touch with Retina display and FaceTime came true today. Just like the iPhone 4, the new iPod touch has two cameras, one on the front and one on the back that shoots HD video.  The 8GB, 32GB and 64GB models go on sale today on Apple’s Online Store.

Apple’s September 1 Press Conference Predictions

Apple is holding a special media event this Wednesday at 10AM PDT. Although they haven’t given details on what will be announced, it’s obvious by the guitar on the building and invitations that it will be music related.

Here are a few things that will most likely be unveiled:

  • New iPod touch with Retina display and FaceTime capabilities
  • New iPod nano with a 3x3cm touch screen
  • Cloud-based iTunes

There are also rumors that Apple will announce a new iLife and iWork, but I’m not betting on it. And of course there’s the Apple TV which is rumored to be renamed to its original codename, iTV, and run iOS. With this being a music even, I don’t think the iTV will be announced, but I hope I’m wrong.

Play StarCraft II on Your iOS Device

StarCraft II Gameboard sounds like an interesting iOS app.  It lets you remotely control your StarCraft II game from your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. The biggest problem with this app is that it’s only compatible with StarCraft II running on a Windows machine.

Starcraft 2 Gameboard should be available in the App Store in mid-September for $2.

The Starcraft 2 Gameboard is set for release in September 2010. With the Starcraft 2 Gameboard, you will be able to remotely control your Starcraft 2 game from your iPhone, Ipad, or Ipod touch.  It will include many great features such as mini-map control, detailed unit statistics, and easy touch access to the games most important hotkeys and macros.

Turn Your iPhone or iPod touch into a Pinball Machine

This is kinda cool, an accessory that turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a miniature pinball machine with working dual flippers and plunger.  I think an iPad version would be much more practical though.  And the $39.99 price is too high in my opinion, even with the LED lights.

You can purchase Pinball Magic at BestBuy.com.

Apple Releases iOS 4.0.2, Fixes jailbreakme.com PDF Exploit

Apple just released iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone and iPod touch.  The update fixes the PDF security hole that has been used by the website jailbreakme.com.  So if you have a jailbroken iPhone or plan on jailbreaking it soon, don’t run this update.

Apple has also released iOS 3.2.2 for iPad which fixes the same security hole.

There is a 32GB iPod touch with a camera on eBay right now.  We’ve seen this iPod touch before, and one like it has actually been on eBay in the past and quickly pulled by Apple.  Let’s see how long it takes for Apple to notice this one.

Apple Adds ‘Try Before You Buy’ Section to the App Store

Apple added a new section in the App Store called “Try Before You Buy.”  This new section lists the popular free Lite apps, in hopes that if you like it you will then purchase the full version of the app.  The section currently lists 98 titles, including Lite versions of Labyrinth 2, CoPilot Live Directions and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.  By the way, I highly recommend trying out Chinatown Wars, it’s awesome!

New Images of 4th Generation iPod touch LCD with FaceTime Camera

An iPhone parts supplier leaked these photos of what are claimed to be the front LCD and bezel of the upcoming 4th generation iPod touch.  The new parts have a front-facing hole that would most likely be a camera used for FaceTime.  The part is clearly marked as an Apple part, “Apple (c) 2010″.
