Apple updated their Find My Friends iOS app with a new interface for location-based alerts. The new interface has a few improvements, like the ability to fine-tune the location threshold for an alert. This is a nice feature if you are in an area like a school that has multiple buildings. You could set an alert to go off when your friend leaves a specific building.

You can now be notified when your friend enters your neighborhood, instead of being notified when they arrive at your house. Being able to adjust the geofence is a nice little update to Find My Friends.

Find My Friends is available for free in the App Store.

Turnplay usually sells for $1.99 and the app gives users an ultra-realistic experience of playing classic vinyl records on their iPads. The new update released today provides even more detail, new features, easier use and more.

New features available on Turnplay include:

Two New Methods of Playback – Shuffle and Queue: allowing users to automatically change tracks without having to open their Turnplay library to choose the next song. Users can play tracks one by one (Queue Mode) or in random order (Shuffle Mode)

When the “vinyl record” finishes playing, the tonearm now moves to the beginning of the record, the record cover changes and the next chart will start playing

The Library screen has been updated with additional buttons for queue and shuffle mode

The addition of an iTunes Match Hint: Turnplay will provide an alert when a track is stored at iTunes Match and instructions on how to play the track stored at iCloud.

This rumor doesn’t seem very believable to me, but there are some reports that Apple will feature a fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 5S for biometric user authentication. China Times says that the new fingerprint sensing technology will enable heightened security for Near Field Communications (NFC) technology that will be used for mobile payments.

KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo suggests that the iPhone 5S will be announced at an Apple event in June and go on sale in July. Kuo was also among the first to claim that the iPhone 5S will have a fingerprint sensor placed underneath the Home button.

I don’t expect either of these rumors to actually happen. Most of these “analysts” who get a lot of attention like Kuo are usually wrong.

Nudifier lets you take a completely innocent photo of grandma sitting on her porch and make it look like she’s a crazy old lady sitting outside nude. Of course, if your grandma actually does sit on her porch naked, you can use Nudifier to censor it a little.

Nudifier is a fun and easy app to use. You can share your creations on Facebook, Twitter, email and Instagram directly from the app.

Mailbox is a new email app for iPhone that is getting a lot of attention. What sets Mailbox apart from other email apps is the ability to easily snooze emails until later. Instead of having dozens of unread emails sitting in your inbox, Mailbox lets you focus on only the ones that are important right now.

Mailbox has a very clean interface and only four gestures for dealing with your emails. A small swipe to the right archives a message, while a large swipe will permanently delete it. A small swipe to the left brings up the “Snooze” menu and gives you options like “Later Today,” “Tomorrow,” “This Weekend,” etc. A large swipe to the left will let you add the message to a list.

The snooze feature is something I really like, it’s one of those things I don’t know how I lived without. That, along with the simple yet powerful interface is what makes Mailbox one of the best email apps I’ve used so far.

Mailbox currently only works with Gmail, but other platforms are coming soon. Also, the app uses a queuing system to help avoid problems that can occur with the release of popular apps. Orchestra, the app’s developer, has been filling reservations on a first-come, first-serve bases. To reserve a spot, just download the app.

Mailbox is available for free in the App Store.

If you’re not able to watch the Super Bowl on your television or stream it on your computer at CBS Sports, here is a list of ways to follow the action on your iPhone.

NFL Mobile

This is probably the best way to watch the Super Bowl while on the go, because it features a high-quality live stream of the game. Unfortunately, this option only works for Verizon customers, since the company owns exclusive NFL mobile streaming rights. NFL Mobile is available for free in the App Store, but the live video requires a $10 premium subscription.

CBS Website

iPhone and iPad customers should also be able to stream the game from CBS Sports using Safari for free. The videos seem to be streaming fine on iOS devices right now, but I can’t guarantee they won’t disable this when the game starts. The website is cbssports.com/nfl/superbowl/live/online.

ESPN ScoreCenter

You don’t get live video with this app, but ESPN provides in-depth play-by-play coverage of the game. It’s also a great app for scores, stats and video highlights. ESPN ScoreCenter is available for free in the App Store.

Twitter

Twitter is always a great way to keep up with events, including the Super Bowl. Here are some accounts you might want to follow: @SuperBowl, @NFL, @49ers and @Ravens. If you’d like to hear what others are talking about, try these hashtags: #SuperBowl, #CBSSuperBowl, #49ers, #Ravens and #SB47. The official Twitter app is available for free in the App Store, but my favorite app happens to be Tweetbot.

Enjoy the game!
